Introduction
I’m Matthew Nicholson, and mtthw.xyz is my personal website about my work.
How the site works
You can read and navigate the site without JavaScript. When JavaScript is available, it can load the site’s own JSON pages to update content without a full page reload and animate the background. These features do not track visitors.
Theme preference
The theme defaults to System, which follows your device’s light or dark appearance setting. You can also choose Light or Dark. The site does not save your choice in cookies, local storage, or session storage; it only keeps the selection in the current page while you use it.
Data collection
You can browse the site without providing personal information. If you use the contact form, I ask for your name, email address, subject, and message. I use these details to read and respond to your message.
- I do not use cookies.
- I do not use analytics or tracking tools.
- There are no user accounts or newsletter sign-ups.
Contact form
The form sends your submission to my self-hosted FormFling service at contact.mtthw.xyz, which forwards it to my Proton Mail inbox. FormFling does not save submissions to a database. It temporarily tracks the sending IP address in memory to limit repeated submissions. The servers handling the form may also record technical request details, including IP addresses, in logs.
Third-party services
This website is hosted by OVH. The hosting provider may process technical information, including IP addresses, in server logs for security and normal server operation. I do not access or use those logs.
Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
I will update this page if I change how the site handles visitor information.
